Agent Ice

3D Stealth-Game

In Agent Ice, the player infiltrates a secret laboratory, evading surveillance cameras and solving puzzles. I created immersive levels that challenge the player’s ability to navigate the environment while maintaining the retro art style, ensuring a cohesive and engaging experience throughout the game. I was also involved in programming Gameplay Interactions, like the surveillance cameras and their ability to detect the player character.

Bachelor Project

The impact of lighting on emotions and immersion in Souls-like games

For my Bachelor´s thesis, I examined how different lighting techniques influence emotions and immersion in games. I developed a custom prototype level to test various lighting scenarios, serving as the foundation for qualitative user testing and in-depth interviews. The Study examined the role of lighting in creating tension and atmosphere, providing valuable insights into how visual storytelling enhances player engagement.

QUICKFIN

2D Action-Adventure

In QuickFin, I was responsible for both Level Design and Gameplay development. Players control a small fish navigating fast-paced, challenging levels filled with enemies they must avoid. I designed the levels to test the player’s reflexes and decision-making, focusing on fluid gameplay and smooth transitions between obstacles to create an engaging and immersive experience.

Temple of Enig'ma

3D Action-Adventure

Temple of Enig’ma is a 3D action-adventure game that combines exploration, puzzle-solving, and a captivating narrative. Developed by a team of six using Unity and Git, the game invites players to unravel the mysteries hidden within an ancient temple filled with challenges and secrets.

My responsibilities included designing engaging levels that encourage player exploration and creative problem-solving, as well as crafting gameplay mechanics to ensure a dynamic experience. Additionally, I contributed by creating a range of distinctive and functional 3D assets that enriched the game world and supported the overall visual style.

About me

Hi, I’m David Kroczek, a passionate Game Designer based in Germany.

I love creating games and strive to craft seamless interactions between worlds, mechanics and players.  Whether it’s designing levels or working on core mechanics, I focus on creating interactive, immersive and most importantly fun experiences.

I’m currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in Game Design and Management, which I will finish in March 2025. This blend of artistic skills and project management knowledge allows me to approach game development from both a creative and strategic perspective.

Outside of work, I’m an avid gamer who loves exploring virtual worlds as much as I enjoy creating them. I also find inspiration in outdoor activities, which give me a fresh perspective and balance to my creative work.
